PRIVACY POLICY.

Somerville Roofing Inc. (“Somerville Roofing”, “we”, “us”) is a roofing contractor based in Surrey, British Columbia, serving the Lower Mainland. We are responsible for the personal information described in this policy.

This policy is written to meet our obligations under Canada's Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) and British Columbia's Personal Information Protection Act (PIPA).

You can use most of this website without telling us anything about yourself. You give us personal information when you choose to:

• Request a quote. Our quote form is hosted by Jobber, our scheduling and CRM provider. It typically collects your name, address, phone number, email and a description of the work.
• Call or email us. We keep the contents of that correspondence so we can respond and keep a record of the job.
• Refer someone. Our referral program asks for your details and those of the person you are referring. Only pass on someone else's contact details if they are happy for you to do so.
• Have work done. During a job we take photographs of your roof and property before, during and after the work, as described on our service pages.

Like most websites, we collect some information about your visit automatically. This includes your approximate location (from your IP address, at city level), device and browser type, screen size, which pages you viewed, how long you stayed, and how you arrived.

We also use a tool that records how visitors interact with pages. Microsoft Clarity captures mouse movement, scrolling, taps and clicks, and can replay these as an anonymised session recording. We use this to find parts of the site that confuse people or do not work properly on a phone.

Clarity masks text content by default, and we do not use it to capture anything you type. Our quote form is hosted on Jobber's own domain and is not part of any recording of this site. We do not attempt to identify individuals from this data.

We use cookies and browser storage for analytics only. We do not run advertising cookies, and we do not sell data to anyone.

• Google Analytics 4 — how many people visit, which pages they read, and which buttons they press. We record when someone opens a quote request, taps the phone number or emails us, so we know which parts of the site actually help.
• Microsoft Clarity — heatmaps and session recordings, as described above.
• Your preference — if you opt out below, we store that choice in your browser so we can honour it.

You can switch analytics and session recording off for this browser at any time. This takes effect immediately and we will not load either tool on your next page view.

You can also install Google's official opt-out add-on, or use your browser's Do Not Track and cookie-blocking settings. Blocking analytics does not affect your ability to use the site, get a quote, or have work done.

We use personal information to:

• Respond to your enquiry and prepare a quote.
• Schedule, carry out and document roofing work.
• Keep records of jobs, materials and warranties, including for manufacturer warranty claims.
• Support insurance claims where you ask us to.
• Administer the referral program and pay out rewards.
• Understand how the website is used so we can improve it.
• Meet our legal, tax and WorkSafeBC obligations.

We do not use your information for automated decision-making, and we do not send marketing email unless you ask us to.

We share personal information only where it is needed to run the business. Our providers are:

• Jobber — quote requests, scheduling, invoicing and the client hub. Canadian company; data may be processed in Canada and the United States.
• Google — Analytics, and the reviews shown on this site, which come from our public Google Business Profile.
• Microsoft — Clarity heatmaps and session recordings.
• Netlify — website hosting and server logs.
• Suppliers and manufacturers — where a warranty registration or claim requires your details.

Some of these providers store or process data outside Canada, primarily in the United States. While it is held in another country it may be accessible to the courts and law enforcement of that country. We only use providers that commit to appropriate safeguards.

We will also disclose information where the law requires it, or where it is necessary to establish or defend a legal claim. We do not sell or rent personal information.

Quote requests that do not become jobs are kept for up to two years so we can pick up the conversation if you come back. Records of completed work — including job photographs, materials and warranty details — are kept for the length of the applicable workmanship and manufacturer warranties, and for as long as tax and limitation periods require. Analytics data is retained on Google and Microsoft's standard schedules; Clarity recordings are held for a short rolling window and are not archived by us.

Under PIPEDA and BC PIPA you can ask us to:

• Tell you what personal information we hold about you and how it has been used.
• Correct anything that is wrong or out of date.
• Delete information we no longer need to keep.
• Withdraw your consent, subject to legal and contractual limits — for example, we must keep certain job records even after work is finished.

Write to info@somervilleroofing.ca and we will respond within 30 days. If you are not satisfied with our answer, you can complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada or the Office of the Information and Privacy Commissioner for BC.

We photograph our work and may use those photographs on this website, on social media and in quotes. We show roofs, not house numbers: we do not publish your name or full address alongside a photograph, and we identify locations only by city or neighbourhood. If you would rather we did not photograph your property at all, or you want a photo of your home taken down, tell us and we will handle it.

This site is served over HTTPS. Quote requests go directly into Jobber rather than sitting in an inbox. Access to job records is limited to the people who need it to do the work. No system is perfectly secure, but we take reasonable measures appropriate to the sensitivity of the information.

This site is intended for adults arranging work on a property. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

If we change how we handle personal information we will update this page and change the date at the top. Material changes will be flagged on the site.
